Exhibition Boot Co
Though established in Fitzroy in 1872, this company moved into propose built premises in Westgarth in 1902 and would be there until 1916. One of the many companies in Collingwood and Northcote that utilised the leathers from local and Preston tanneries. Catherine Mary Burdett took over the company and supervised the move to Northcote. She was also a signatory to the Women't Petition.

Grand Junction Railway - Westgarth
At the close of 1887 advirtisemnts appeared spruiking the Grand Junction Railway hub. To be located on Union St, near Charles St. Plans and descriptions appeared complete with advertisements for villas near the station. However it was not to be and many people would have lost money on this speculative scheme. One could, postulate the success of such a scheme now.

Turret House
An early residence from 1850s to late 1930s. Situated on Northcote Hill overlooking the Merri Creek Valley.
Notable residents - Nehemiah Guthridge, Leonard Robinson, William Thompson & Joseph A Angus.

Three Missing Churches
The history of these ‘lost’ churches illustrate the way Northcote developed in late 1880s and early 1900s. The transference of two to Northcote Hill led to settlement’s dominance there.
Wesleyan - St Georges Rd (Clarke St, near Merri Ck)
(1891 – late 1970’s early 80s)
Presbyterian – crnr High and Cunningham Sts (1876-1896)
St Josephs Catholic Church - Arthurton Rd (1893 – 1918)
